Getting Started: Vocol Tutorial (Part 1)

Just created your Vocol account but don't know where to start? In this article, we are going to run through the basic steps to use Vocol on your desktop computer. Note that the steps may be slightly different if you are using a mobile device.

From the Vocol website, click on the "Log in" button at the top right. This will bring you to the login page. If you do not have a Vocol account, you can create your account by clicking on "I don't have an account" just below the "Log in" button.

There are two ways to create an account. You can either sign in with an existing Google/Microsoft account or use your email address to create a new account. If you use an email address to create an account, you will be required to verify your email before you can continue.

To log in with an existing account, either pick an account to sign in or input the registered email and password.

Console settings

Once you're logged in to the console, you will have several options to customize your Settings by clicking on the “More” tab (circled).

For example, you can set the display language for the user interface to a language of your choice. The supported languages currently include English, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese.

The setting for Language Supported in Files is automatically selected. However, you can click and manually choose a language of your choice. If you anticipate that you will process files in mixed languages, you should go with the default.

You can also click on your profile icon at the top-right corner, then select Settings and go to the Preferences tab to set these as well as email notifications and the option for auto-generated AI power analysis.

Recording a meeting or uploading an audio/video file

To start recording, click on the blue "Record" button on the top navigation. You will need to allow the use of your computer's microphone to proceed. During the recording process, you can use the "Pause Recording" and "Continue Recording" functions to manage the content of your recorded audio files. The recording duration for each file is limited to three hours.

Another way is to invite recording robot to Google or Teams meetings. To do so, go to the Settings panel on the Home section and click on "Join Meeting". You will then be prompted to enter the meeting link in the dialog box. Note that this mode of recording currently has a 60-minute limitation, and it is in audio only.

When recording, it is recommended to turn off Memory Saver on your browser. To do so, either type "chrome://settings/performance" in the address bar, or click on the kebab menu (the 3-dot icon on the top right corner) and go to Settings. On the left navigation menu, click Performance and you will have the option to turn Memory Saver off.

You can also whitelist Vocol by clicking the "Add" button next to "Always keep these sites active" and input https://console.vocol.ai.

Lastly, you can upload pre-recorded audio and video files by clicking the "Upload" button on the top navigation. Once the uploading is done, you will see an icon badge on the notification bell and receive an email alert. The playback time for each uploaded file is limited to 180 minutes (about 3 hours).
